Welcome to Legato Strings, where musical dreams come to life. Since our inaugural concert in 2019 at St. Thomas Syro Malabar Church Hall in Toronto, we have been dedicated to helping beginner string players learn to play beautifully and transform into accomplished musicians. Our mission is simple yet profound: to elevate beginner string players to professional levels while making music education affordable and accessible for everyone.
What started as a grassroots initiative among immigrant communities in Canada has blossomed into a thriving musical family. We believe that music transcends boundaries and brings people together, creating lasting connections and memories that enrich lives.
Our vision extends beyond just teaching notes and rhythms. We aim to have more people learn music in a lovable way and make it an integral part of their lives. In today's digital age, we're also committed to reducing screen time by encouraging hands-on musical engagement that nurtures creativity and human connection.
At Legato Strings, we welcome players of all backgrounds and skill levels. Whether you're picking up a violin, viola, cello, or double bass for the first time, our doors are open for you to join our orchestral rehearsals and embark on your musical journey.

Our inclusive environment celebrates diversity, and we particularly welcome players who want to explore both Western classical traditions and music from around the world. From rock and jazz to country and Christmas melodies, we embrace all genres. We also have a vibrant community of musicians who enjoy Asian music, including Indian (Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi), Chinese, Japanese, and Korean repertoire.
Our music lessons run from September through June, providing a full academic year of growth and learning. We offer different age groups at both our Scarborough and Ajax locations, ensuring that every member finds their perfect musical home.

Join us for a special collaborative performance where Legato Strings Orchestra performs together with Music4Life Orchestra. This exciting partnership not only showcases the talents of young musicians but also invites everyone to learn to play beautifully as we celebrate the holiday season with enchanting string music.
Location: St. Francis Centre, Ajax Time: Friday evening Our annual Christmas celebration returns! Our young players will showcase their talents and perform great music for audiences of all ages. This festive concert features holiday favorites and demonstrates the incredible progress our students have made throughout the year as they learn to play beautifully. Come celebrate the season with us and witness the magic of live orchestral music performed by our dedicated students, including those from Legato Strings.
About the EventSpring is here, and we're celebrating with a fun twist on our usual concerts! Join us for a relaxed evening at a local restaurant where our students from Legato Strings will perform on the band stage while families enjoy dinner together. It's a casual, friendly atmosphere where you can actually chat, laugh, and connect with other orchestra families while watching the kids perform. Each table orders their own meal and pays the restaurant directly – simple and stress-free! Think delicious food, beautiful music, and quality time with your orchestra community all in one enjoyable evening. It's the perfect opportunity to learn to play beautifully while supporting our talented musicians.
